Une Toulousaine à Grand Teton

     Avant Yellowstone, nous avons passé une journée à Grand Teton. Nous avons aussi passé la soirée à Jackson où se situe le million dollar cowboy bar aménagé comme un saloon: sièges pour se faire cirer les chaussures, ancienne caisse enregistreuse et selles de cheval à la place des tabourets de bar. Ambiance réussie!
      Le Grand Teton National Park est situé dans l'Etat du Wyomming au sud de Yellowstone. Le parc est crée le 26 février 1929 puis étendu en 1950 grâce aux terres offerts par un riche homme d'affaire John Davison Rockfeller Junior. Il fait parti du Greater Yellowstone Ecosystem, immense territoire où les bisons, les grizzlis et de nombreuses autres espèces sauvages peuvent jouir de l'un des derniers grands écosystèmes intacts d'Amérique du Nord.
     Nous n'avons pas eu beaucoup de chances avec le temps mais beaucoup plus avec les animaux sauvages puisque nous avons pu voir des mooses (élans), des elks (sorte de cerfs), des bisons (qui ont traversé la route sous notre nez), des loutres, des "antilopes" (proghorn en anglais, appelées couramment antilopes mais différentes des antilopes africaines).
     Le Grand Teton, malgré la pluie était magnifique avec ses couleurs d'automne.

     Before Yellowstone, we spent a day in Grand Teton. We also spent the night in Jackson where is the million dollar cowboy bar fitted out as a saloon: seats to have shoes polish, old cash register and saddles instead of bar stools. Great atmosphere!
       The Grand Teton National Park is located in the State of Wyomming south of Yellowstone. The park was created in 1929 and extended in 1950 thanks to the lands offered by a rich businessman John Davison Rockefeller Junior. It is part of the Greater Yellowstone Ecosystem, a vast territory where bison, grizzlies and a lot of other wildlife can enjoy one of the last large intact ecosystems in North America.
      We were not very lucky with the weather but more with the wildlife as we could see mooses, elks, bisons (they crossed the road under our nose), otters, antelopes (proghorn, commonly called antelopes but different from African antelopes).
      The Grand Teton, despite the rain was beautiful with fall colors.
